Science in the kitchen!

As I was saying my roof has a leak and we have been getting quite a bit of rain here in Phoenix. Luckily it SEEMS that my leak has been fixed. In the last few weeks it has been a huge bummer to wake up to a wet kitchen. The counters and anything on them, the floors...it's generally been a mess and things have been ruined. In the picture below you can see that directly below the leaky part of the roof is a basket. In that basket I keep bread, bananas, potatoes, onions, tortillas...generally dry things. A lonely onion was hiding out in the bottom of the basket, minding it's own business. I went to make a sandwich one day and I noticed that I had what seemed to be a random plant in the mix of all the food. After a little investigative digging, I found the source of the plant. We have onions people! And that is what happens when you "water" your dry goods.
